The best generator accessories for 2026

A generator is a small engine, and the accessories around it fall into four groups that behave very differently. Parallel kits link two identical inverter generators so that their outputs add, and they only work between compatible models — the kit publishes which, and the combined rating is the useful figure. Covers protect a machine stored outdoors, and the specification that matters is venting: a sealed cover over a warm engine traps moisture, so the good ones breathe. Wheel kits are rated for a weight and fit particular frames, and they change how a machine is lifted into a car. The last group is service: the oil grade and quantity the maker specifies, the air filter, the spark plug and its gap — all published in the manual, all specific, and all cheaper than the repair they prevent.
