An isolator is the switch that takes a battery out of the circuit for maintenance, storage or safety, and its rating is published twice: a continuous current it can carry indefinitely, and a much higher intermittent figure for a few seconds. Reading only the second overstates the switch by a wide margin. The other distinction that matters is whether it is rated to switch under load or only to isolate a circuit already at rest: opening a few hundred amps draws an arc across the contacts, and a switch not designed for it welds or erodes. Voltage rating must again be a DC figure. Terminal sizes decide which lugs fit, and the studs on this shelf are commonly M8 or M10.
